The Corvus Electronic Launch System brings the latest in software-definable hardware to UAV launch
The Avalon Innovation Program brings together Australian companies and organisations to showcase cutting-edge ideas at the Avalon Australia Airshow.
Selected as a finalist for the Avalon 2025 Innovation Award, Corvus Technology Solutions is presenting their latest innovation, an autonomous, multiplatform UAV launcher, at the event on Tuesday, 25 March, 2025, to an international audience.
The Corvus Launcher (Patent Pending) is an electro-mechanical UAV launch system for fixed wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. It brings the latest in software-definable hardware to UAV launch, offering significant advantages over existing solutions:
- Rapid, coordinated launch – a giant leap from 5 launches/hour typical of pneumatic launchers to 200+ launches/hour for multi-UAV, swarming and advanced operating paradigms
- Remote, autonomous operation – launch without human input for end-to-end autonomy
- Multi-UAV compatibility – software definable launch profiles to support any UAV up to 120kg at velocities up to 180km/h
- Modular, multi-mission – self-contained and battery-powered with no required ancillary systems, launch from anywhere
- Stealth – completely silent between launches with minimal acoustic and thermal signature
Designed with modularity and interoperability in mind, the Corvus Launcher can operate stand-alone or be integrated via industry and military standard interfaces.
Presenting this innovation is Corvus’ Defence Products Program Manager, Aidan Depetro.
A distinguished panel of experts will judge the awards, including current and former leaders from leading Australian defence, research and industry organisations including Austrade, Boeing, the Centre for Defence Industry Capability, Defence Science Institute, DMTC Limited, Defence Science and Technology Group and CSIRO.
Corvus’ capabilities include machinery that features robotic and automatic mechatronic systems. These projects require precision machining and mechanical assembly, pneumatic and electrical systems production and assembly, in process and commissioning testing, and on-site customer signoff testing, all of which CTS complete in-house to meet the customer requirements.
